Do you know what’s in your food? A topic that could literally diverge into several topics but at the heart of it all is one simple question…What’s in your food? Was it crafted in a lab? Does it have an ingredient list that reads like a small novel? How do you pronounce those ingredients anyway? Now more than ever there is a renewed sense of awareness about food quality and clean, simple labeling.

Mother Earth is remarkable, providing water, air, and so many amazing natural food sources to eat that you could never try them all. So why are most food companies so quick to manufacture ingredients, add extra sugars, fake flavors and who knows what? The answer is simple, money. These products can be made cheaply in masse and provide nutrients but at what cost? They also can be masked as “healthy” or “good for you” when it is just the opposite. Something that is processed or created in a lab has been manipulated beyond its purest form – a slick package, some great messaging and strategic shelf placement could fool anyone until you turn it around and look at the ingredients.

The good news is that there is a whole world of foods that don’t’ believe in loading up on fake, over processed, manufactured goodness or have an ingredient list that takes up half of the nutrition label. These products take the goodness of what nature intended and not only taste amazing, but they are better for you and you know what you are eating. No guess work. Sure, some are in a different form like legumes disguised as noodles, but the ingredient label is what tells a powerful story.

The next time you are at the store, look a little closer, count the ingredients-less really is MORE!  Make sure you can read and understand what you are eating and know what you are putting into your body.

Life is already complicated, why should your food be?
